Sales missions are a very effective way of bringing the Washington State message directly to key media, receptive operators and tour operators.

Proposed California Receptive Operator Mission:
Tentative Dates: March 28 – 31, 2011
(Minimum of 6 attendees needed)

Receptive Operator Background:
When a tour operator is planning their itinerary in an area they are unfamiliar with, they go to the receptive to provide them with existing product. Typically, the receptive has better buying power based on the volume they bring to the supplier and, as a result, they can offer the tour operator better rates than they can get on their own. Keep this in mind when calculating your rates for the receptive, they will request wholesale (lower than net – non-commissionable) in most cases.

Mission Includes:
* Appointments with targeted key receptive operators
* Refreshments for each office visit by State Tourism
* Info below placed on thumb drive for operator’s convenience
* 2 Press releases from each attendee
* Profile Sheet
* 10 images
* 2 Sample Itineraries
* Ground Transportation In LAX and SFO

Proposed LAX and SFO Target Operators:
ATI, New World, American Ring, America4You, JTB LAX, Jalpak, Meitetsu International, Go West, Agentours, California Tour Consultants, JTB SFO

Cost to Partner with State Tourism: $800.00 per attendee** This does not include your travel costs, airfare, hotel or meals

Non-Attending Partner Fee for Brochure Included on Thumb Drive: $100.00 per partner

As this event is still in the tentative stages, it’s possible to modify the target based on attendee input. For example, we could offer a media reception on one evening targeting SATW writers in the LA area…
